Save our ShireAttend our fundraiser and festival to Save Our Shire and the S.O.S Eco-Show 2008. This event features sustainability, organics, alternative energy, renewable resources, environment, recycling and recreation. If you've been to burning man, you can't miss THIS!
The Shire consists of several acres of organic gardens, the Tiki Bar[n]: a community gathering and rec barn, a twenty acre arboretum with lagoons and wildlife, greenhouses, organic herbs and vegetables, full-size smokehouse, wood and metal shops and storage sheds, a recycling area, hand tools and machines, and fresh spring water. These rolling wheat and grass hills provide beautifully rich soils, sustainable construction materials (strawbales, loose straw, sandy loam and clay soils) scenic 360 degree views, 592 acres of fantastic sports and recreational areas including walking trails, equestrian use, wildlife habitats, organic gardening, geocache, and much more just a stone's throw away. There are numerous quiet fishing and hidden recreational lakes/rivers within arms reach, great golf on several small-town local 9 and 18 hole courses. No tee times, no wait. Best of all, there are no natural disasters, violent crimes, gangs, pollution or heavy traffic here, yet we are centrally secluded an hour or less from several major cities. Featuring
Helpful Hints on FunA few hints at how to have fun and get the most out of your experience during your personal quest to save the Shire. Bring everything you need to survive comfortably while camping. Think neccessities: comfortable and outdoor clothing and footwear, food, water, toiletries. There will be vendors on site, but not a store. Once your vehicle is in the gates, it must remain where it is until you decide to leave. If you leave and re-enter to your campsite, you will be charged at least half of the ticket price. There is day parking where you can leave your car and pack your belongings to your campsite, if you decide to leave to go fishing or golfing. If you are staying the entire time, feel free to bring your mountain bike or BMX. It can provide hours of fun and enjoyable transportation over our expanse of land. We may construct a skills course and bike park for this event. If you bring your own form of alternate transportation, please be curteous of pedestrians and other attendees. Non-motorized only please. Driving is not permitted once inside the gate. You will be required to park your car in or near your campsite for the duration of your stay. Use your vehicle as a safe storage place for valuables and to keep items out of the weather. Be prepared for rain. Bring a tarp or waterproof canvas. Bring extra clothing and rainwear. You'll be happy you did, even happier you'll be if it doesn't rain. Bring your musical instrument and artistic talent. If you are not a vendor, please do not sell items from your vehicle. Fires only where permitted. Bonfires and outdoor cooking area provided. If you are bringing an RV it must be self-sufficient. Do NOT litter. Pack it in; Pack it out. Place rubbish in provided containers on the premises. Do NOT bring glass containers. Recycle at the recycling center located on the premises. Your trash is valuable. Dispose of green material in the compost bins provided. All human waste must be disposed of properly. Use the outhouses provided or bring a 5 gallon bucket with a seat. Lines for restrooms may be lengthy, if you can't wait a bucket is priceless. Please have the waiver signed and sent back if you are a pre-event ticket holder. If you purchase your tickets at the gate, the price may be significantly higher. You will be required to sign the waiver and pay for additional fees then. Be safe, sane and supportive. Drugs, weapons, violence, illegal activities prohibited. |
